Shakespeare's last full play and considered one of his best is being
given slight shake-up by Mad Duck Equity Co-op. It's still the humour
filled story of revenge, restitution and reckoning; the half monster
Caliban is still there, so is the magical Ariel; the virginal Miranda is
also still present; the twist is that instead of being raised by her
father on a remote island since the age of three, in this production she
is raised by her mother.
Prospero in this production will be played the fabulous Gwynyth Walsh!
With Jennifer Paterson as Ariel and Anna Cummer as Miranda. David
Purvis, Carole Higgins, Keith Martin Gordey, Paul Herbert, Pam Hyatt,
Ian Alexander Martin, Jon Paterson, John Prowse, Bert Steinmanis, Terri
Anne Wilson, Laura Jaszcz, and Ntsike Kheswa round out the cast. Set
Design by Al Frisk, Lighting Design by Erin Nelligan, choreography by
Julia Henderson and costumes by Moira Fentum.
The Mad Duck Equity Co-op presents The Tempest
starring Gwynyth Walsh as Prospero, directed by Jack Paterson. March 3rd
to 20th, 8pm at the Jericho Arts Centre, 1675 Discovery Street (NW

A highly caffeinated story of three fiery women - Vitos estranged
daughter, his pit-bull of a second wife, and the family's wrinkled
matriarch - who find humour and grace in the aftermath of a violent car
crash that threatens to take from them the one man they all love.
playing at the Kaasa Theatre in the Jubilee Auditorium through to March
20.
Special at the door discount of $5.00 off the regular price for EQUITY
members
Show times: 8 pm Tuesday through Saturday, 3 pm Saturday and Sundays
Frangiones new play, Espresso, is so full of love, pain, and redemptive
beauty ... Frangiones words help my heart shed some of its terrors once
again. And you know what? The show is really funny, too.
- Colin Thomas, Georgia Strait
This is an extremely challenging play with lots of tough language
beautiful cadenced. This young woman can write like nobody's business
and she's been winning prizes all over and you can see why. This isn't
just a play that has legs, it has all the appendages of the body and I
think its going to work extremely well across the country as it travels.
