Set in a West Indian hair salon in Toronto, 'DA KINK IN MY HAIR gives
voice to seven women who tell us their unforgettable, moving and often
hilarious stories. Mixing laughter and tears, and told in words, music
and dance, the stories explore the hardship, struggles and joys of black
women's lives.

This project requires performers to portray characters of African
descent and who work well in an ensemble.

SEEKING:

ENID: (Principal), African-Canadian, female, mid-40s-50s (+). Still
grieving the loss of her husband, Enid looks to rebuilding her life and
to doing the things she couldn't do while her husband was living. She
has a great sense of humour and a lot of energy. Must be a strong actor.
Some movement and singing required.

SHAWNETTE: (Principal), African-Canadian, female, mid-20s - mid-30s.
Uneducated and alone, Shawnette struggles to understand how after
working to put her husband through medical school, he could abandon her
for another woman. Must be a strong actor. Some movement and singing
required.

ENSEMBLE:  African-Canadian, female, ages early 20s - mid-50s. Strong
female actors to perform in the on-stage ensemble.  Must be able to move
and sing well. May understudy principal roles.
