Hot Feat Productions Inc. announce auditions for their up-coming Canadian Premiere of

BATBOY: The Musical

DESCRIPTION

BATBOY, is a dark comic, pop-rock musical that earned cult following in New York City, as well as, successful runs in London, England and through out North America and Europe.  The Story is a chronicle of the reactions of the town's folk of Hope Falls, West Virginia, to a hideous, unspeakable beast, who is-half bat and half boy.  Clever-camp characterizations and keen dialogue fuel this witty high octane cross between My Fair Lady and Edward Scissorhands.  Musically it runs the gamut between hard-edged rock and traditional musical theatre.

CASTING REQUIREMENTS

This highly physical ensemble based show requires strong character actors who sing well in various styles and can hold vocal harmonies.  Specific character roles indicated can be cast with either males or females.

Batboy:	20's-30's /Male/(who can appear teenage youthful) small in stature --5'5-5'8/, strong versatile tenor/vulnerable /sensitive with inner strength/must have a dark evil side

Meredith: 	30's-40's /Mother of a 17 year old/Capable of sharp wit and wry comedy/Strong Pop Belt and Lyric Soprano styles/Motherly but not matronly

Dr. Parker:	30's-40's/ Father/Lyric Baritone/ Jeckle and Hyde type character-with warm dutiful fatherly sense but also has a dark evil side

Shelly:		20's /Female/(must appear youthful and petit in stature) Strong soprano pop belt with a contemporary vocal mix/smart, sensitive but wilful ingénue

Sheriff Reynolds:	30's-50's/Male/Baritone/Cocky-Bold small town Sheriff /Strong Character Actor-able to handle physical comedy and multiple male/female roles

Rev. Hightower:	30's-50's/Male or Female(Males must be Tenors/Females must be Altos)/Small town Evangelist cross between James Brown and Mahalia Jackson/Gospel Belt/ 				Strong Character Actor-able to handle physical comedy and multiple male/female roles  

Ruthie Taylor:	20's-30's/Male or Female/ Sensitive Teenager/Strong Character Actor-able to handle physical comedy and multiple male/female, adult and teenage roles

Rick Taylor:	20's-30's/Male/ (Pop -Rap -Rock Tenor with strong rock falsetto ala Ozzie Osborne) Juvenile Punk/ Strong Character Actor-able to handle physical comedy and multiple 			male/female, adult and teenage roles

Ron Taylor:	20's-30's/Male or Female (Flexible Vocally-should have a gospel belt in the style of Aretha Franklin) /Loud Mouthed Teenager/ Strong Character Actor-able to handle 			physical comedy and multiple male/female, adult and teenage roles

Pan:		20's-30's/Male/Pop-Rock High Baritone-Tenor/Plays the half man, half goat classical god of the forest/ Strong Character Actor-able to handle physical comedy and 				multiple male/female roles
