JOB - ARTISTIC DIRECTOR - KITCHENER

Theatre & Company seeks a dynamic individual as Artistic Director.

A member of PACT and an "E" house under the CTA, Theatre & Company is
the resident company of the multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art "King
Street Theatre Centre" in the heart of downtown Kitchener.  With an
operating budget of between $800,000 to $1 million, Theatre & Company is
Waterloo Region's professional theatre company strategically located
between Stratford and Toronto.

The ideal candidate should possess a strong, achievable theatrical
vision.  He/she needs to have an extensive knowledge of and experience
working in Canadian and regional theatre with national contacts and a
passion for mentorship and arts education. He/she must also have
excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a working knowledge of
budgeting and the costing process along with the ability to work in a
fast-paced, challenging environment. Experience in arts administration
and arts management is required.

The Artistic Director will work collaboratively with the General Manager
while being accountable and reporting independently to the Board of
Directors.  The Artistic Director is responsible for the overall
artistic vision, direction, and identity of the company, season and
long-term planning, playwright development, educational programs and
dramaturgic integrity of Theatre & Company productions.  He/she will
also be directly involved in the theatre's marketing and promotion,
fundraising, grant preparation, liaison with associated funding
agencies, community relations, and advocacy.  The position offers an
amazing support structure for professional development.
