CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - BIRMINGHAM CONSERVATORY - STRATFORD
-----------------------------------
The Birmingham Conservatory for Classical Theatre Training at the
Stratford Festival is currently accepting applications for positions in
the 2006 class, which will begin in September. The deadline for
applications is March 31, 2006.
The Conservatory offers a concentrated and comprehensive approach to
artistic development, consisting of an intensive 20-week programme of
instruction by senior artists and teachers under the direction of
Principal David Latham. Instruction includes concentrated sessions in
voice, movement and background research and classes in acting and the
interpretation of texts. The programme culminates in the John Sullivan
Hayes Workshop, an in-depth exploration of a Shakespearean or other
classical text with a performance before an invited audience.
Participants in the Conservatory receive a bursary, and pay no tuition
fees. Following the 2006 session, participants will be offered places in
the Festival's 2007 acting company.
Applicants selected for an audition will be seen in one of the cities on
the Conservatory's national audition tour: Halifax, Montreal, Toronto,
Winnipeg, Edmonton and Vancouver. (Those living elsewhere in Canada are
equally encouraged to apply.) Please send a resume, photo and cover
letter detailing your reasons for applying to the Conservatory to
auditions at stratfordfestival.ca or the Director's Office, Stratford
Festival of Canada, P.O. Box 520, Stratford, Ontario, N5A 6V2. For more
information, please visit www.stratfordfestival.ca/about/index.cfm.
