NOTICE OF GENERAL AUDITIONS FOR THE SHAW FESTIVAL 2008 SEASON

MUSICAL AUDITIONS: 	 09:00 - 17:00 h  
September  24, 26  (Equity)
September 27 (Non-Equity)

Times are subject to change without notice.  Applicants selected for an
audition will be contacted to arrange an appointment.

REQUIREMENTS:
Equity ARTISTS - Drama:  2 contrasting monologues.  Please select at
least 1 monologue from the Shaw Festival's mandate period (plays written
in or about 1856 - 1950)

Non-Equity ARTISTS -Drama: 1 monologue (it is strongly suggested that
the monologue be from the Shaw Festival's mandate period - plays written
in or about the period from 1856 to 1950).

Equity ARTISTS - Musical: 1 monologue (it is strongly suggested that the
monologue be from the Shaw Festival's mandate period - plays written in
or about the period from 1856 to 1950)
PLUS 2 contrasting songs, preferably an up-tempo and a ballad.  At least
1 song should be a traditional musical theatre piece - i.e. Gershwin,
Porter, Coward, Rodgers and Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner &
amp; Lowe, etc.  The second song need not be traditional musical theatre
- it need not even be a musical theatre song - it should be a piece that
shows your strength and your vocal range.  Please note: we may only hear
one song.

Non-Equity ARTIST - Musical:  There may be two auditions.  The first
auditions is one song performed for  music director Paul Sportelli.
There will be callbacks later that afternoon where 1 monologue (strongly
suggested that the monologue be from the Shaw Festival's mandate period
- plays written in or about the period from 1856 to 1950) PLUS 1 song
(traditional musical theatre piece - i,e, Gershwin, Porter, Coward,
Rodgers and Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner & Lowe etc.) will be
performed for Jackie Maxwell and Neil Munro.  Callbacks will be
confirmed within 48 hours of the first audition.

An accompanist will be provided for musical auditions.  Please bring
your own music

Applicants selected for an audition will be contacted to arrange an
appointment.
 
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
