EQUITY'S HONOURS AWARDS
Canadian Actors' Equity Association will honour Jackie Richardson,
Gordon Tootoosis, Daphne Goldrick and Tomson Highway in Halifax, Nova
Scotia on October 28th
---------------------

Jackie Richardson (Toronto) and Gordon Tootoosis (Cutknife,
Saskatchewan) will be presented with Life Membership in Equity in
recognition of their distinguished careers in the performing arts.
Jackie has led a distinguished career performing on most of Canada's
professional stages. Gordon, moved by the lack of artistic opportunities
for aboriginal young performers was a founding member of the
Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company in the heart of Saskatoon's inner
city.

Equity member Daphne Goldrick (Vancouver) will receive the Larry McCance
Award for her outstanding contribution to the Association. In 1978
Daphne spearheaded the drive to open Equity's Western Office.

Playwright and novelist Tomson Highway is the 2007 recipient of Honorary
Membership in Equity, awarded in recognition of his outstanding
contribution to the performing arts and the development of Aboriginal
theatre both in Canada and around the world.

Additionally the 2007 Stage West - Equity Emerging Theatre Artist Award
winner will be announced on Sunday, October 28th at 8:00 p.m. The $2,000
cash prize, initiated in celebration of Equity's silver anniversary in
2001 and sponsored by Stage West Theatre restaurants, recognizes an
Equity member of three years or less who has made a significant
contribution and impression as an artist.
