BREAKDOWN:
ALL ROLES: ANY RACE SCAR, MALE, 30's- 40's Mufasa's brother and Simba's
uncle. Evil, maniacal, but has humour and high style. An exceptional
actor (Classical training) and a character singer. MUFASA, MALE,
30's-40's King of African Pridelands. Regal, omnipotent and powerful.
Physically strong,an excellent, rich baritone voice. RAFIKI, FEMALE,
20's-40's Soulful,comedic, African female baboon. Sings "The Circle of
Life". Possesses an excellent, rich South African belt voice. SIMBA,
MALE, 18-30's Plays a male African lion, 5'8-6'2. Actor has sex appeal,
charm, urban sensibility, strong pop/rock voice. High baritone to an
"A". In excellent shape, dances, moves well. NALA, FEMALE, 18-30 yrs.
Attractive African lion. Excellent pop belt to an "E." In excellent
shape, great strength and presence. Must dance/move well. TIMON, MALE,
20's-40's A meerkat. Wise cracking, N.Y. urban comic character actor. No
taller than 5'8". Character singer. Moves well, comfy with puppets.
PUMBAA, MALE, 20's-40's Timon's sidekick. Not so bright lovable warthog.
Strong comedic skills. Larger body/frame preferred. Character singer,
gravelly distinctive voice. ZAZU, MALE, 30's-40's A parrot-like bird.
Proper, somewhat befuddled, English butler, cynical outlook on life,
dedicated to the King. Possesses strong comedic skills. Character
singer. Comfy operating a puppet. SHENZI (FEMALE),BANZAI & ED (MALES),
20's-40's Funny, maniacal hyenas. Street smart, urban. Strong rock and
roll voices. Moves well, comfy operating puppets. Covers "Timon" &
"Zazu". 

SINGERS, MALE & FEMALE, 
Strong singers who move very well, to be in the ensemble and cover
principal roles. Be prepared to sing one brief standard R&B, pop or rock
and roll song that shows off your voice and range. Please do not sing
material from THE LION KING. NO standard Broadway theatre music. ALL
PERFORMERS MUST BRING THEIR OWN SHEET MUSIC (A PIANIST WILL BE
PROVIDED), AND A PHOTO AND RESUME STAPLED BACK TO BACK. 


DANCERS,  MALE & FEMALE,
Strong dancers with a modern/ballet dance background. Must be warmed up
and ready to dance at the respective time in flat jazz shoes or bare
feet. Some male dancers require strong acrobatic skills
