The Audition Project, designed exclusively for professional theatre artists, will assemble 15 directors and artistic directors from across Canada, to audition professional Canadian artists on April 19 and 20 at the Dalhousie Arts Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Director bios are now posted online. See below for a list of participating directors from across Canada. Detailed bio information and audition registration is now available online at http://www.caea.com.
Auditions are open to all members of Equity in good standing, and non-members who self-identify as Aboriginal or as a visible minority or as part of the ethno-racial community, and who also self-identify as a professional artist or are in the process of becoming a professional theatre artist.

* Emmy Alcorn, Artistic Director, Mulgrave Road Theatre is well known as a performer and practitioner of new script development. She has received critical acclaim for her performances at Neptune Theatre, Festival Antigonish, Ship's Company Theatre and Mulgrave Road Theatre.
* Stewart Arnott has been a theatre artist in Canada for over 30 years. As a director, his credits include the world premiere of Paula Wing's "Pobby & Dinganon" on the mainstage at LKTYP (Toronto); "Master Harold... and the Boys" and "Kilt and Strawberries" at Prairie Theatre Exchange (Winnipeg). Stewart is also a teacher and a coach.
* Scott Burke, Artistic Producer, Eastern Front Theatre, an award-winning director, playwright and producer and a founding member of In Good Company. From 1998 to 2003, Scott was the Artistic Producer of the Ship's Company Theatre.
* Robert Chafe, Artistic Associate, Artistic Fraud, is a St. John's based playwright whose work has been seen across Canada, the UK, and Australia. He frequently collaborates with Siminovitch Prize winning director Jillian Keiley and is an Artistic Associate of the Magnetic North Theatre Festival.
* Eric Coates, Artistic Director, Blyth Festival, is extremely proud of the festival's new play development record since he became artistic director in 2003: twenty-three world premieres, eight scripts published, and two finalists for the Governor General's Award. Eric is the President of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT).
* Kayla Gordon has directed over 50 productions as the former Artistic Director of the Winnipeg Jewish Theatre, and she has been involved in commissioning, developing, and producing over 10 new Canadian plays.
* Peter Hinton, Artistic Director of English Theatre at Canada's National Arts Centre (since 2005) has directed numerous productions across Canada including Allen Cole's "The Wrong Son," Gloria Montero's "Frida K.", Marie Clements' and "Copper Thunderbird." Peter was the Dramaturg in Residence at Playwrights Workshop Montreal for five years and has been Associate Artistic Director at both The Canadian Stage Company and Theatre Passe Muraille in Toronto.
* Matthew Jocelyn, Artistic and General Director, Canadian Stage
Canadian Stage is originally from Toronto and was later based in France. Mathew is an internationally acclaimed producer and director of theatre, dance and opera.
* Lise Ann Johnson, Artistic Director, Great Canadian Theatre Company, is a dramaturg and director with a passion for new Canadian plays. Lise Ann worked as the Artistic Associate and Literary Manager of the National Arts Centre English Theatre from 2001 to 2005, and she coordinated and curated On the Verge, the NAC's national play development festival from 1997 to 2005,
* ahdri zhina mandiela, founder and artistic director, b current Performing Arts, is a multi-disciplined and award winning artist, mandiela is widely known as a director and poet/performer; and is legendary as mentor and icon to young artists in the city of Toronto.
* Caleb Marshall, Artistic Producer, Theatre New Brunswick, has had over a twenty-year association with TNB, and returns to the theatre after serving as resident director at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre's UK/European tour of Romeo & Juliet.
* Jeff Pitcher, Artistic Director, Theatre Newfoundland Labrador, began his career as a writer/actor with the Mummers Theatre Troupe in Newfoundland in 1976. In 1979 he was a founding member of Rising Tide Theatre.
* Max Reimer, the Artistic Managing Director, Vancouver Playhouse, has acted, choreographed and directed at most major regional theatres in Canada: Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, London, Hamilton, Mississauga, Ottawa and Charlottetown. He was Managing Artistic Director at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton, Ontario (1996-2008).
* Artistic Director of Onelight Theatre, Shahin Sayadi's statement of philosophy is the foundation of Onelight Theatre's artistic vision; The statement reads, in part: Theatre is an evolution that starts with one's reading of a text. Its body is made of action and its completion happens when the audience is within. It is neither a depiction of reality nor a creation. It is a new discovery into the universe each time it happens.
* Matthew Tiffin, Artistic Producer, Ship's Company Theatre is a director, author, and actor, hailing originally from Ottawa. He has trained and worked in New York, London, Edinburgh, Montreal, Quebec City, Stratford and Toronto.
