HSING, 14 - 60s; a teenage poet who grows up to be an engineer. Sweet
but nobody's fool. Soprano.

ROSA, 14 - 20s; classmate of HSING. She's ardent and fervent to the
point of driving her friends away.  Soprano.

UMA, any age; plenary council member who helps to uncover the plot to
keep the ship from landing; Alto.

AKI, young adult; HSING's engineering classmate. She can't compete with
Hsing's accomplishments or the attention of their professor; Alto.

TIRZA, any age; a shipmate; Mezzo.

LUIS, 14 - 60s; close friend with HSING. Loves her but doesn't know how
to express it. Baritone.

PATEL, 50s - 70s; charismatic cult leader. Tenor.

HIROSHI, 40+; exacting and focused ship's navigator. Bass.
   
TAN, 60+; ship's librarian. Easygoing, sly sense of humour; Tenor

BINGDI, 20s;Tan's grandson, curious friend of LUIS; Tenor

   RAMDAS, any age; shipmate; Tenor
