SINGING FOR ACTORS (who don't usually sing, but want to!)

Build upon your actor training to help you feel comfortable singing. In the four weeks, we will address basic practical and technical necessities of singing such as breath, body alignment, emotion and pitch, as well as playfully exploring the connection between our body and our singing voices through improvisation, melody and partner work.

Whether you are a seasoned professional, a newbie or somewhere in between, stepping out of your comfort zone is an important part of growth. These 2-3 hour workshops create the space to be silly, make mistakes and surprise ourselves. Each session will include group work, partnered exercises and individual work. We will use improvisation, imagination and practical tools to encourage free, engaged and unencumbered sound.

Halifax's award-winning ensemble theatre company is offering two two-week workshops for any interested individuals, age 17+. Seek Electricity (June 30 to July 11) introduces our physical and playful approach to acting. The Missing Theatre (July 14 to 25) focuses on our method of collaborative creation. Spaces are limited.
