EQUITY BYLAW UPDATES - OCTOBER 2015

Equity's Council encourages all members to be familiar with the rules that
govern membership in our Association. Electronic copies of the current
bylaws are always posted for review or download in the "Document Library"
section of EQUITYONLINE, and are available in print format upon request to
the Association.

At its meeting of September 27, 2015, Council approved the following bylaw
changes:

Article 15.1 was expanded to allow remounts and tours of the same
role/position and production to be counted as a single engagement permit.
This more realistically reflects the nature of that kind of serial
re-engagement.

Article 16, which formerly limited the number of engagement permits
available to performers and stage management artists working in theatre, was
repealed. This change, in combination with the changes to Article 24
(below), addresses a limited number of circumstances where artists refuse to
join.

Article 21(a) was amended to create a new cap on the number of credits a
stage management apprentice could acquire. In some instances, apprentices
were continuing their apprenticeship well beyond what might be reasonably
expected for training purposes. Going forward, a stage management apprentice
may acquire a maximum of eight credits, where the credits are earned with a
single engager, or ten credits, where the credits are earned with multiple
engagers.

Article 24 was amended to increase permit engagement filing fees by 50% for
artists who do not join having completed four permit engagements.
