Additional information:
When Black Mothers Don’t Say I Love You is a new play written and directed
by Trey Anthony (‘da kink in my hair) that will be premiered at Factory
Theatre. The play delves into the family dynamic of a mothers relationship
with her daughters after her decision to leave them behind in the Caribbean
as children in order for a better life in Canada.

We are casting for the following roles:

CLAUDETTE, 35-42, black (Caribbean decent), dark complexion, natural hair.
Claudette is intelligent with soft tomboy energy. Forced to be resilient and
independent as a lesbian growing up with a strict Christian Jamaican mom.

VALERIE, mid-30’s, black (Caribbean decent). Valerie is very conservative;
she is a young Michele Obama look alike. She is the complete opposite of her
older sister, Claudette. Even though she is sophisticated, she has a nervous
energy about her.

The full script is available to performers who would like to read in
preparation audition. While we thank all applicants for their interest, only
those selected for an audition will be contacted.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
