EQUITY'S RESPONSE TO ONTARIO GOVERNMENT ON DRAFT CULTURE STRATEGY

Friday, May 13, 2016 was the last day for Equity members to provide input on
Ontario's Draft Culture Strategy. Equity members responded in large numbers,
concerned that professional Artists were not adequately represented or
supported in the draft Strategy.

Equity's Executive Director Arden R. Ryshpan submitted a formal response to
the Ontario Government which can be viewed at www.caea.com.

Equity's response focuses on three important factors that the Strategy must
address in its final form:
1. Respect for Professional Artists
2. Impact and economic importance of the Live Performance Industry
3. Prioritization of Elementary Arts Education.

Thank you to all Equity members who submitted a response. Our collective
input is crucial in order to ensure that the voice of the professional
Artist is heard - and that Equity members are included in Ontario's cultural
future.
