Imagine a world in which homosexuality is illegal and punishable by death.
Introducing the Toronto premiere of a multiple Rideau-Award winning
production. In-The-Moment Theatre presents  The Lavender Railroad, a  play
by Lawrence Aronovitch, at the Box Toronto Theatre –89 Niagara Street Suite
103 June 8 - 18.
Written by playwright  Lawrence Aronovitch ,  The Lavender Railroad  is set
in a world where homosexuality is a crime punishable by death. In the first
part,  Safe House , a fugitive named Sebastian ( Tony Babcock ) meets his
mysterious rescuer, an older man who calls himself Mother Courage ( Peter
Nelson ). In the second part,  Ex Cathedra , a nun (Judith Cockman) is
called into a meeting with a female security commander (Jennifer Vallance)
and is surprised to discover her identity. The link between the two stories
is the Lavender Railroad, which brings hope to homosexuals trying to stay
alive.
