Tree Canada Announces the Craig Huff Memorial Bursary

(Ottawa, ON - October 1, 2008) – At its Annual General Meeting on September
23, 2008, the Board of Directors of Tree Canada unanimously approved the
creation of the Craig Huff Memorial Bursary.

The Bursary will be available to forestry students across Canada who have
demonstrated a strong interest in urban forestry. The bursary will allow
successful candidates to attend the Canadian Urban Forest Conference, held
every two years in Canada. The approximate value of the bursary is $2,000.

Craig Huff was the forester for the City of Ottawa, who died prematurely in
March 2008. He was well known throughout Canada for being an urban forest
practitioner, a great supporter of the Canadian Urban Forest Conference and
of Tree Canada, and a longtime member of the International Society of
Arboriculture. Well known in the Ottawa community, he became known as one of
Canada’s preeminent urban forest practitioners, and an advocate for urban
forests within the profession of forestry.

“We are honoured to acknowledge Craig’s contributions through this bursary”
said Michael Rosen, President of Tree Canada. “In working with his family
and colleagues we are hopeful that his legacy will be an inspiration to
those foresters interested in pursuing urban forestry as a career”, he said.

Details of the bursary will be sent to the eight schools of forestry across
Canada.

Arbres Canada annonce la création de la Bourse commémorative Craig Huff

(Ottawa,ON -  le 1er octobre 2008) – Lors de son assemblée générale annuelle
du 23 septembre 2008, le conseil d’administration d’Arbres Canada a approuvé
à l’unanimité la création de la Bourse commémorative Craig Huff.

La bourse sera offerte aux étudiants en foresterie à l’échelle du Canada qui
ont démontré beaucoup d’intérêt pour la foresterie urbaine. La bourse
permettra aux candidats sélectionnés d’assister à la Conférence canadienne
sur la forêt urbaine qui se déroule tous les deux ans au Canada. La valeur
approximative de la bourse est de 2 000 $.

Craig Huff est le forestier travaillant pour la ville d’Ottawa qui est mort
prématurément en mars 2008. Il était bien connu dans tout le Canada pour ses
activités de foresterie urbaine et il était un grand partisan de la
Conférence canadienne sur la forêt urbaine et d’Arbres Canada, ainsi qu’un
membre de longue date de l’International Society of Arboriculture. Craig
Huff était non seulement une personnalité notable à Ottawa mais également un
très grand promoteur de la foresterie urbaine au Canada et un défendeur des
forêts urbaines au sein de sa profession de forestier.

« C’est un honneur de pouvoir reconnaître la contribution de Craig avec
cette bourse », a déclaré M. Michael Rosen, président d’Arbres Canada. « En
collaborant avec sa famille et ses collègues, nous espérons que les leçons
que nous avons héritées de Craig inspireront tous les forestiers intéressés
à faire de la foresterie urbaine une carrière. » 

Des détails sur la bourse seront envoyés aux huit écoles canadiennes de
foresterie.
