[CANUFNET] Planting conifers in the fall

I would like to know when or if we should stop planting conifers in the fall (in Saskatoon).  I have been told that planting of conifers should stop after August 15th, however I have also been told that it is only the Pines that we have to worry about, it's fine to plant all other connies in the fall.  I have witnessed die back and stress in Pine but have not noticed any problems with Spruce or Larch.
