[CANUFNET] Shelterbelt valuation formula

Hi,

Have experience in providing values on shelterbelts for expropriation
purposes for highway widening for some near rural properties still
within the City of Winnipeg.

Basically, used the trunk formula method for calculating every tree in a
small representative or "typical" section (~3 m in length) of the
shelterbelt.

As the shelterbelt was homogeneous in terms of age, size and species
content, used the calculated value and multiplied by the length.

Qualify what you have done and method used and you should be good to go.

Had to consider something called injurious infection as the property's
were now "suffering" from loss of highway noise attenuation supplied by
the existing vegetation.

The values were upheld at hearings held at the LVAC (Land Evaluation
Appraisal Commission) here in Manitoba.

HTH,

/g

Subject: [CANUFNET] Shelterbelt valuation formula

Good afternoon. I am looking for information as to what people are
using out there to valuate shelterbelts. At the City of Saskatoon, we
use the trunk formula method for individual trees, but do not have a
formula we are comfortable with for shelterbelts. Please contact me at
geoff.mcleod at saskatoon.ca with any information or leads you may have.

Thank you very much and have a great day.

Geoff
