Edible Trees

Planting Fruit & Nut Trees for the Community

The purpose of the Edible Trees program is to offer funding of up to $4,000
and other resources for community-based projects that provide residents with
access to fresh fruit and nut trees while making a positive difference to
the Canadian environment including:

P  Provide shade

P  Absorb and deflect solar radiation

P  Improve air quality

P  Absorb and filter water

P  Create habitat for wildlife

Funding is available, but not limited to, community gardening groups,
community housing projects, schools, parks and arboretums.  

Important Dates

All applications must be received by February 28, 2012.

Final Reports and projects must be completed by September 30, 2012.

Note: The number of projects will be based on available funding. In 2012 it
is projected that approximately 15 projects will be funded.

Arbres comestibles

Planter des arbres porteurs de fruits et de noix pour la collectivité

Le but du programme sur les arbres comestibles est de fournir un financement
maximal de 4 000 $ et d’autres ressources pour des projets communautaires
qui fournissent aux résidents un accès à des arbres porteurs de fruits et de
noix frais tout en apportant des changements positifs à l’environnement
canadien, y compris :

P  Fournir de l’ombre

P  Absorber et faire dévier le rayonnement solaire

P  Améliorer la qualité de l’air

P  Absorber et filtrer l’eau

P  Créer un habitat pour la faune

Des fonds sont disponibles, entre autres, pour les groupes de jardinage
communautaire, les projets de logement communautaire, les écoles, les parcs
et les arboretums. 

Dates importantes

Toutes les demandes doivent être reçues d’ici le 28 février 2012.

Les projets et les rapports finals doivent être achevés d’ici le 30
septembre 2012.

Remarque : Le nombre de projets choisis dépendra des fonds disponibles. En
2012, on prévoit qu’environ 15 projets seront financés.
