[CANUFNET] Heights of Trees at Property Line

We treat hedges and any boundary trees between residential properties as civil issues – strictly between neighbours. If people want their hedges maintained at a certain height, they need to discuss with their neighbours to come to an agreement and can either hire an arborist together or do the work themselves.

It would be way too onerous for the municipality to manage all of the different heights that people would want their hedges to be. In some cases, however, a Property Standards by-law may have some requirements for the maintenance of landscaping. Does Mission have a Property Standards by-law in place?

Cheers,
Nancy

Subject: [CANUFNET] Heights of Trees at Property Line

The District of Mission have been asked- on more than one occasion- to regulate the height of trees along property lines. The most recent request is to require adjacent neighbours to keep cedars trimmed to a “hedge like” height.

Has anyone else dealt with this request and if so how?

Thanks all….
