Cool.

Thanks Jared ( and Gord Mann) for your responses….much appreciated.

The Urban Forest Strike Team approach does not exist in Canada that I know of………..fortunately we now have 8 Forestry staff here at the town that have been reassigned ( with tablets running our asset management system, City Works) performing risk management….but at a cost of shutting down all our base programs.

Go to http://www.ufst.org/
Role of the Urban Forest Strike Teams...
Arborists can provide disaster planning assistance to communities, risk assessment, and FEMA debris identification following storms. Risk assessment helps communities identify trees that are an unacceptable risk, and trees suitable for retention and management during disaster recovery.

Pete Smith also with the Texas A&M Forest Service would be a good point of contact for you also. Pete is the Dept Head for our Urban Forestry Program. Pete will be taking a new position with The Arbor Day Foundation sometime in the next month so get your questions in quick!

Has anyone used this manual: http://www.umass.edu/urbantree/TEM.pdf ?

We would appreciate hearing from anyone who has some practical tips to share as we respond to the equivalent of at least 1 years’ worth of volume of work from an ice storm event December 22nd.

Thank you.
