Tuesday March 3rd - the Faculty of Forestry<http://www.forestry.ubc.ca/> at UBC will be hosting a free public lecture by Dr Cecil Konijnendijk the head of Landscape Architecture, Planning and Management at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.

His lecture title "Urban Forests for Urban Futures - Biocultural diversity for resilient and healthy cities" looks at the development of urban forestry across the globe and discusses some of the major achievements - and failures. Dr Konijnendijk takes a critical look at urban forestry's role in current and future cities, highlighting the contributions of urban forests to bioculturally diverse and resilient cities. Lessons will be drawn for the future of urban forestry science, policy and practice in Canada - the country where the term 'urban forestry' was coined, but where its coming of age has been troublesome.

Mark your calendars for the evening of Tuesday March 3rd with the Schaffer Lecture beginning at 5:30 pm in room 1005 of the Forest Sciences Centre<http://www.forestry.ubc.ca/contact-us/>. There is no need to register or RSVP.
