A Celebration of National Tree Day

Ottawa’s trees clean our air, improve the health of our residents, beautify our communities, and improve our quality of life. You are invited to learn more by attending this event which includes displays by organizations focused on environment and healthy living and a presentation by Professor Marc Berman. His study, conducted by a team of researchers from the United States, Canada, and Australia, researched the implications of an increase urban trees in Toronto and residents feeling healthier.

The event will feature the opening of PhotoSynthesis 2: A Tree Fest Ottawa photography exhibit. Be one of the first to tour the exhibit.

The event is brought to you in partnership with Tree Fest Ottawa<http://treefestottawa.org/> and Ottawa Public Health</owa/ottawa.ca/health>

About our guest speaker:

Marc Berman
University of Chicago

Marc Berman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Chicago. His research interest includes the ability of natural environments to improve affect, attention and memory.  Understanding the relationship between individual psychological and neural processing and environmental factors are at the heart of his research.

La forêt d’Ottawa purifie notre air, améliore la santé de nos résidents, embellit nos quartiers et améliore notre qualité de vie. Vous êtes invités à en apprendre davantage en participant à cet événement où des organisations tiendront des stands portant sur l’environnement et la vie saine et une présentation par professeur Marc Berman. Son étude, réalisée par une équipe de chercheurs des États-Unis, du Canada et de l’Australie, a porté sur les répercussions d’une augmentation du nombre d’arbres dans la ville de Toronto, faisant en sorte que les résidents se sentent mieux.

L’événement coïncidera avec l’inauguration de l’exposition de photographies intitulée PhotoSynthesis 2, présentée dans le cadre du festival Tree Fest Ottawa. Soyez parmi les premiers à admirer cette exposition.

À propos de notre conférencier :

Marc Berman
Professeur à l’Université de Chicago

Marc Berman est professeur adjoint au département de psychologie de l’Université de Chicago. Ses recherches portent notamment sur la capacité des environnements naturels à améliorer l’attention et la mémoire. La compréhension du rapport entre le traitement psychologique et neuronal et les facteurs environnementaux se situe au cœur de ses recherches.
