HI Darren
Please check out website www.acer-acre.ca <http://www.acer-acre.ca/> as starting point

Treepedia is for tree iD and

TreeCaching allows you to input diameter for the tree and calculate the carbon sequesterd in different measurements above and below etc

Carbon Calculator on the home page has DIY instructions to make you own DBH measuring device with string, duct tape and yogurt cup and convert circumference to diameter formula

Publications are under About us and have tree inventories for newly planted and mature trees on different locations - carried out be undergrad interns using our equipment and Smithsonian protocols

The economic value could be checked several places- TD Bank Economist Depratto had presentation with much of this

I am aware of programs like i-Tree as it is the back end to OpenTreeMap which is the basis for my treeOcode Niagara <http://www.treeocodeniagara.com/> project. Unfortunately though, when exporting data out of OpenTreeMap, it does not append the eco-benefits of the trees in the export (which would be a HUGE value add if it could be accomplished).

I understand there are incredible complexities within the calculation, but there should be something out there that can engage students on a rudimentary level.
