My father became an agronomist in the late 40's, after having studied with the Trappist monks in Oka, Québec.  He then worked for the City of Montréal until 1967 and for the City of Québec until 1987, as parks director at the end of his career.  He is a founding member of the Québec chapter of the I.S.A. and has been a great ambassador to urban forestry so that municipal administrators come to realize the importance of preserving as well as increasing the tree canopy.

Je vous informe du décès de mon père, Marc-Aurèle Laurin, le 26 octobre dernier, à l'âge de 91 ans.

Mon père est devenu agronome après avoir étudié avec les Pères trappistes à Oka, Québec.  Il a travaillé pour la Ville de Montréal jusqu'en 1967 et ensuite pour la Ville de Québec jusqu'en 1987, devenu directeur des parcs vers la fin de sa carrière.  Il est l'un des membres fondateurs du chapitre québécois de la S.I.A. et a été un excellent ambassadeur de la foresterie urbaine pour que les administrateurs publics en viennent à réaliser l'importance de préserver ainsi que d'augmenter la canopée.

Je tiens à le remercier pour son immarcescible contribution.
