Jack,
It would probably be helpful to many people if you shared your experiences on-line rather than off.
Cheers,

It is my understanding that the City lost those trees that were moved at City Hall bare root and all. Weller Tree Service had moved the trees successfully over the years when the underground parking garage was under repair. I sent Nikki a message offline with suggestions based on my experience moving up to 18 inch DBH trees.

Actually the world trade trees were large by nursery standards about 10" dbh but all were nursery grown and prepared trees. The prep went on for many years and were very expensive. Not very applicable to the average project.
I would suggest looking at moving large trees bare root as was done at the Toronto city hall. I have heard of trees over 20” dbh being moved bare root.

You should look at the new World Trade Tower building in New York. They had some very large tree moves associated with that as part of the memorial.

Hi All
We are investigating moving a large elm tree.
It is a ~80 year old heritage tree with a canopy of 50’. We realize this is “Disney-esk” and not common in Western Canada; however, we are hoping that with the wealth of knowledge here, someone has experience and is willing to share ideas on the up-front costs and long term maintenance.
Thank you in advance!
Nikki
