[CANUFNET] shredded rubber mulch

I had a client cover her whole front yard with it. Then after 1-2 days she hated the smell, got rid of it (yes, to the dump) and replaced it with dyed black wood mulch. Think maybe that’s the real market for the material? 😉

Oliver,
I moved onto my house a couple years ago, and there is this shredded rubber mulch in all the gardens. I hate it. It is just terrible stuff. I've been taking it out slowly and replacing with the good stuff.
Yes, a creative use to re-use I suppose, and now ends up in landfill in small garbage bags.
Regards,
Peter Shields

Hi.
I'm seeing this stuff occasionally. To me it looks and feels like it's made from shredded tires and comes in a variety of colours. Is it really any good as a mulch or is it just a creative re-use of old tires that turns one environmental problem into another? Thoughts?
Just being curious,
