Looking again at this TV video, it is not made clear that other species beside the Ashes, such as Maples ssp., Oaks, Fir trees, Poplars, etc., were cut. The 1000 trees cut down on this Montreal archipelago are on a partially man made Island, underwater drench plus boulders and excavation of the underground sub transport Metro inauguration and for the 1967 World Fair.

Thousands of trees were planted along these new shorelines, erosion control of land filled boulders was a key factor in both Notre-Dame Island as well as Sainte-Helene's Island not to to forget City du Havre and, last but not least Habitat 67. I managed all the green spaces, all types of vegetation on this mad made habitat world project, land wise and along the ten floors east and west 1995 - 2008.

Since the massive cut down, a new policy and plan came about in 2018 put together with some of the best plant biologists, urban forestry specialists, forestry engineers, horticulturists. Here is a video in French that is self explanatory along with new tools and a registry of remarkable species for Parc Jean Drapeau along the Saint-Lawrence.

This parc was designed by the same Architect as for New York Centre Park, Frederick Law Olmstead. Initially 82 hectares, now 258 hectares.
