Just need to put some on the outside of the roots and raise above the tops of the roots. Notice, in the photo, how the bark is beginning to scuff off of the top of the root in the foreground.

The mountain bikers often put stones over the roots to prevent abrasion. See picture.

Hello,

Does anyone have experience or thoughts on exposed tree roots within mountain biking trails and whether more damage is caused by covering them up with soil or leaving exposed and riding over them?

Thank-you!
Jessika
