Community and Protective Services Committee of Council 

Housing branch has submitted two reports to the Community and Protective

2) Update on Beaver Barracks: 
The Beaver Barracks selection committee met in early June.  The report with
the committee’s recommendation for a proponent for the site is available:

Affordable Housing in Vars 
  
Agricultural and Rural Affairs Committee of Council approved a proposal to
defer the development fees for a small affordable rental project in Vars on

The report will go to Council on later this month.  This is another great
example of how we are working with the community to improve the overall
affordability of housing in all parts of the City.  For more information

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Rental Market Report 

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) released the rental market
survey last week.  Ottawa’s vacancy rate is down to 2.2%.  As the vacancy
rate is below 3%, the City will not consider applications for condo

Announcements 

Janet Kreda has left the Affordable Housing Unit at the City for a post at
CMHC.  Thanks to Janet for all her hard work over the years.  The Housing
branch wishes her all the best.
