FYI – a request for tenants to come out and support the 8 recommendations
from Ottawa’s First Tenants’ Conference. They are hope to have tenants speak
to each recommendation and are starting early to help make that happen.

Hi, everyone,

 

Please distribute this information through your networks. The report from
Ottawa’s First Tenants’ Conference will go to the Community and Protective
Services Committee on September 20th.  The report and a summary of the
recommendations are attached.  The full workshop recommendations are also
included in the report.  

 

We are asking for tenants to come out and support these recommendations.  

 

Ideally, we should have at least one tenant to address each recommendation
however, there is no limit on the number of tenants who can speak (if we get
a hundred tenants, they will all have an opportunity to speak for five
minutes.   

 

We’re hoping tenants can submit their names by mid-June (prior to the
vacation exodus).  If you are a tenant who wants to support a better quality
of life either on the private market or in social housing, or if you know of
a tenant who would like to support a recommendation please contact me.  

 

I can’t stress how important this opportunity is for tenants to finally have
their voices heard at City Hall.
