homelessness

 

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd introduced a major new plan to reduce
homelessness in that country by half over the next decade on Sunday,
starting with an injection of $1.2 billion over the next four years in new
spending for emergency relief measures, including shelters and supports for
rough sleepers. The government white paper called “The Road Home” <

m.gov.au/media/release/2008/media_release_0713.cfm > is part of the
Australian government’s economic stimulus program to respond to the global
economic crisis. Rudd’s government recognizes that investments in people (in
social infrastructure) is an important part of the economic re-building
program for that country.
