Dear Community Members,

Please see the attached memo which was sent from City of Ottawa, Deputy
Manager, Nancy Schepers to Mayor O'Brien and all City Council Members
regarding the issues I have brought related to Para Transpo Services.

A couple of important notes:

Ms. Schepers states that there are no lay offs, yet on Sunday June 15th,
Mayor O'Brien confirmed that he had just contacted Alain Mercier who had
apparently confirmed that there are lay offs.

Ms. Schepers states that there is no reduction in service as the reduced
number of runs for the summer has been the practice for previous years, yet
at the same time she states that people who do not have regular bookings are
being denied trips as they cannot meet the demand.  Those who work irregular
hours and those with medical appointments cannot get regular bookings!

Ms. Schepers states that there will be about 20 runs cut for the summer, and
states that drivers pick up only 2 passengers per hour meaning and that only
about 24 people in one run would be affected.  24 trips per day x 20 runs =
480 cuts.  For those who take Para we know that most drivers have at least
two pickups scheduled for the hour and two for the half hour for example 2
pick-ups for 9:00 a.m. and 2 pick-ups at 9:30.  This would mean a reduction
of 48 trips per day x 20 runs totalling 960 people being affected daily!

There are also other important issues and I encourage you to read the memo
and then plan to attend the March tomorrow (leaving Rideau Centre , McKenzie
King Bridge) at 2:30 as well please plan to attend and address your concerns
at the Joint Transit meeting at City Hall starting at 3:00.
