The last week of June is a busy one for those concerned with poverty
reduction. The Ontario Provincial Government has committed to develop a
poverty reduction strategy by year end with public input. Here are some of
the consultation meetings to be held in Ottawa next week.

1.	A Community-led consultation on poverty reduction is happening on
June 25 in Ottawa, and is organized by the Ottawa Poverty Reduction Network/
Le réseau de reduction de pauvreté à Ottawa.  This is a group of concerned
citizens and social services agencies who are concerned about the issue.
This event will be held at the Christ Church Cathedral, 420 Sparks Street.
Time: 7:00 to 9:00.  You can contact the undersigned if you are interested
in attending this event. 
2.	MPP led consultation on June 26 jointly Yasir Naqvi MPP for Ottawa-
Centre and Hon Dalton McGuinty Ottawa-South (Premier will not be present)
Location Ottawa Technical High School, Library – 440 Albert Street from 6:30
to 9:00 p.m. On invitation HYPERLINK

3.	MPP led consultation on June 27 jointly with Hon Madeleine Meilleur
MPP Ottawa-Vanier and Ottawa-Orleans MPP Phil McNeely – Location tbc– from
9:30 to 11:30 – on invitation – The 6 Eastern Community Health and Resource
Centres along with Entraide Budgétaire are involved in organizing this
event. 
4.	MPP led consultation in late July for Hon Jim Watson. More
information to come. 
5.	Conservative MPP’s  Lisa McLeoad  (Nepean-Carleton) and MPP Norm
Sterling ( Carleton-Mississippi Mills) are not hosting consultations as far
