Hello Everyone,

The Alliance to End Homelessness has prepared six questions on housing,
homelessness and health for the Federal Election. We invite you to ask them
and to share them during the rest of campaign. Some background information
is include in the Questions attachment.

Ideas for using these questions: Take the questions to all-candidates
meetings. Send candidates emails and ask for answers. Use them in
conversations with campaign workers looking for your vote. Share them with
voters (friends, neighbours, colleagues). Write letters to the newspapers.
Use your imagination!

Housing

1. National Housing Strategy

2. Expiry of Social Housing Operating Agreements

Homelessness

3. Homelessness Programs

4. Avoiding Homelessness & Economic Loss

Health & Homelessness

5. Housing and Deteriorating Health

6. Treatment Under-funding

We encourage you to support these upcoming election events:

1. Monday, September 29th – City Hall Hosts All-Candidates Forum on
Local Issues, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Ottawa City hall, Council Chamber, 110
Laurier Avenue West

2. Wednesday, October 1st, 11:30 a.m. – The Alliance to End
Homelessness is hosting lunch for Ottawa Candidates at an emergency shelter.
We are inviting Candidates to join the lunch line-up at an emergency shelter
to enjoy good company and a meal with a side order of “Housing, Homelessness
and Health” – at The Shepherds of Good Hope, 233 Murray Street. Our Media
Advisory is attached.

3. Monday, October 6th, 75-party Federal Election Debate on Poverty and
Inequality, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dominion-Chalmers United Church. 355
Cooper Street (Cooper and O’Connor). Details are in the attached English and
French notice.

Candidates need your vote to win. That’s why your efforts to bring housing
and homelessness to the attention of Federal Election candidates over the
next 2 ½ weeks can make a real difference!

Many thanks for your help,

Lynne
