Subject: New Advocacy group starting re poverty and mental illness.

Hello everyone,

An advocacy group is starting soon at and will continue to meet over the summer. The group is to be comprised of people experiencing poverty and living with serious mental illness who will plan a presentation for the City's consultation in the fall. The intent is for the group to advocate for a poverty reduction strategy that meets their needs.

This first meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 8th from 12 - 230 pm, at Canadian Mental Health Association, 1355 Bank St., Suite 301. Lunch, bus tickets and parking will be provided. There is a poster attached with more details.

If you know anyone who may be interested, please have them contact Lindsay at student06 at cmhaottawa.ca<mailto:student06 at cmhaottawa.ca> or at 613-737-7791 ext. 203. We would really appreciate you helping to spread the word to those that you work with!

If you are an agency worker, please bring a client/person you work with as the event is intended for people experiencing poverty. They can contact Jenn to register: ochai at magma.ca<mailto:ochai at magma.ca> or 613-737-7600 ext. 3477.  We would encourage people to attend this session as it will provide a bit of a background for new advocacy group members.
