Clearly any of these questions can be amended.

And clearly a question should be what his government is prepared to do for
people with disabilities who are living in poverty.

Please adjust any of these questions to suit any particular situation you
want to address.

Cheers,

Jennefer

Hi folks,

Here’s one opportunity to respond to the “economic crisis could stall
poverty plan” message that we’re getting today. Please participate if you
can, and circulate to others.

Thanks,

On March 26, the Ontario government will be introducing its 2009 Budget. In
a story in the Toronto Star today, Minister Deb Matthews seems to say that
the poor economy may delay spending on poverty reduction this year.

Send them a message. Their commitment to reducing poverty cannot falter. Bad
economic times are the most important times for government to invest in
people by investing in poverty reduction.

Premier McGuinty is going to be taking part in a Globe and Mail online
discussion today at 1:00pm.

The discussion page is at:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20090311.wPOLdiscussion0311/BNStory/politics/

You can submit a question in advance (look for the link on that page) or you
can participate live. You have to sign up for a free online account first.
It only takes a minute to do that, by going to:

Here are six template questions that you can use to ask McGuinty about his
government’s commitment to poverty reduction.

If you use these questions, change them up a little bit by making them more
personal or more targeted to your own community. Or make up one of your own.

1. On December 4 your government commitment to reduce child poverty by 25%
in the next five years. That requires funding, and to make the five-year
target, that funding has to start flowing this year. Will it?

2. According to an Environics poll, 81% of Ontarians say times of recession,
more than ever, are when we should invest in poverty reduction. Do you agree
with the majority?

3. International studies show investing in low-income people is a powerful
economic stimulus because low-income people spend what they have and they
buy locally, which is great for the economy. Will your upcoming stimulus
budget flow better income supports to low-income Ontarians to stimulate our
economy?

4. The Ontario Child Benefit is an excellent way to help me your
government's goal to reduce child poverty by 25% in the next five years.
Will you increase the benefit in this month's budget?

5. Poor Ontarians struggle to be able to pay high rents and afford
nutritious food. The 25 in 5 Network for Poverty Reduction is calling on
your government to implement a $100 food benefit and a $100 housing benefit
in the next budget to help poor Ontarians meet food and shelter costs. Will
you do it?

6. Your government has committed to reducing child poverty by 25% in the
next five years and I applaud you for it. But what about adults living in
poverty? What will you do for them?

Please take a moment to participate in this online discussion.
