Homeless to Home
>From Homeless to Home is one of five ways developed in a project to help the
community learn from people who have been homeless in Ottawa and to bring to
life for a broad audience the findings from the Panel Study on Homelessness
in Ottawa.
Through a partnership between the University of Ottawa, Carleton University
and the Alliance to End Homelessness, the project was funded by the Social
Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada through its Homelessness
and Diversity Issues initiative. The project shares with the broader
community answers to these questions - Who is homeless in Ottawa? How do
people move into and out of homelessness? What challenges do they face? How
do people become homeless? How can community organizations, governments and
people in the community work together to end homelessness?

Speak
Speak is the story of four young people fighting homelessness, told in their
own words. It's about their successes and their struggles with family abuse,
poverty and being on the wrong side of the law. Released August 21, 2009,
this new video documentary was produced by the Youth Services Bureau's
Community Services.
The YSB <javascript:void(0)> 's Downtown Services and Drop-in, located at
147 Besserer St. in the Byward Market area, receives more than 16,000 youth
visits every year. The YSB Housing Continuum means that every year, more
than 400 young men and women aged 16 to 21 can have safe, affordable
housing, from emergency shelters to transitional apartments. Experienced
counselors offer help with education, work and training goals while youth
learn to live successfully on their own.
