We are pleased to announce that Janice Burelle has accepted the position of
Manager of Housing in the Community & Social Services (CSS) Department at
the City of Ottawa, effective February 17, 2010.  Janice was most recently
the acting General Manager for CSS and was responsible for the initial
development and implementation of the new service excellence direction in
the Department.  

 

Janice has enjoyed a remarkable 23-year career at the City of Ottawa, and
former Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton (RMOC).  She began working
as a camp counsellor with the Parks & Recreation Department at the former
City of Ottawa and later moved to Social Services at the RMOC as a welfare
worker.  Janice became Manager for Eligibility Review in 1999 and was most
recently Manager of Operations & Program Support in the Employment and
Financial Assistance Department. 

 

Through years of working directly with individuals and families in need, she
understands first and foremost the importance of having an affordable and
secure place to call home in our Community.  

 

In addition to her skills as a trained project manager and her compassion
for others, she is extremely approachable in both official languages.  

 

Please join us in congratulating Janice and welcoming her to her new role as
Manager of Housing at the City of Ottawa.

Nous sommes heureux d'annoncer que Janice Burelle a accepté le poste de
gestionnaire du Logement aux Services sociaux et communautaires (SSC) de la
Ville d'Ottawa. Sa nomination prend effet le 17 février 2010.  Janice
occupait jusqu'à tout récemment le poste de directrice générale intérimaire
des SSC et a été à ce titre responsable de l'élaboration et de la mise en
oeuvre initiales du nouveau cadre d'excellence du service.  

 

Janice a mené depuis 23 ans une carrière remarquable à la Ville d'Ottawa et
à l'ancienne Municipalité régionale d'Ottawa-Carleton (MROC).  Elle a débuté
comme conseillère pour les camps au Service des parcs et des loisirs de
l'ancienne Ville d'Ottawa et a par la suite occupé un poste de travailleuse
en assistance sociale aux Services sociaux de la MROC.  En 1999, Janice a
accédé au poste de gestionnaire de l'Évaluation de l'admissibilité et elle a
récemment exercé les fonctions de gestionnaire du Soutien des opérations et
des programmes à la Direction de l'emploi et de l'aide financière. 

 

Ayant travaillé directement auprès de personnes et de familles dans le
besoin pendant des années, Janice comprend par-dessus tout l'importance
d'avoir un logement abordable et sûr dans notre collectivité.  

 

Outre ses compétences comme gestionnaire de projet et sa compassion, Janice
se distingue par le fait qu'elle est extrêmement facile à aborder et ce,
dans l'une ou l'autre des deux langues officielles.
