Join the Food for All Food Action Planning Conversations

We need your help - Please forward this invitation to your friends, colleagues, and others that may be interested in participating. 

There is something exciting taking shape in Ottawa. People from across this city are coming together to address the food issues in our communities. It is called Food for All: an Ottawa Community Response. The time is right for Ottawa to develop a food action plan. Register now to participate in the Food Action Planning Conversations. 

A list of the Food Action Planning Conversation subject areas, as well as the dates and times, are below. For more information about Food for All as a project or the topics that will be discussed, please visit www.justfood.ca/foodforall.

Food, Access and Health in Our Communities: This topic area will look at issues like being able to find, afford and get to the food we need, the relationship between food and health, and our community food programs. 

Time: 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Dates: February 9th, March 9th, April 13th and May 11th, 2010

Food in Our Schools: This topic area will explore the issues related to formalized programs that provide children with food, the general availability of foods in schools, and food in the curriculum.

Time: 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Dates: February 16th, March 30th and May 18th, 2010

Household Food Production: This topic area will explore the issues faced by households growing food for their households - including household gardens, community gardens, livestock by-laws, and skills to grow and use food.

Dates: February 23rd, March 23rd and April 27th, 2010

Market Food Production: This topic area will explore the issues faced by people who are growing food for sale to others.

Time: 10:00am to 12:00pm

*                                                         In each topic area, every conversation will build on the conversations that happened before it. When you sign up for a topic area, please ensure that you can commit to participating in all of the conversations for that topic area.

*                                                         We welcome both French and English speakers to participate in these conversations. Each topic area will have an English and a French speaking facilitator.  

*                                                         Locations will be wheel-chair accessible

*                                                         Child-care will be available during each of these conversations with prior notice.

Quelque chose de stimulant prend forme à Ottawa. Les gens des quatre coins de la ville se réunissent pour traiter des enjeux alimentaires dans nos collectivités. La démarche a été baptisée « Des aliments pour tous : une intervention communautaire d'Ottawa ». Le temps est venu pour qu'Ottawa élabore un plan d'action alimentaire. Inscrivez-vous dès maintenant pour prendre part aux discussions sur le plan d'action de Des aliments pour tous.

Les aliments, l'accès et la santé dans nos communautés : Ce domaine thématique se penchera sur des enjeux tels que trouver, se payer et obtenir les aliments requis, le lien entre les aliments et la santé, de même que nos programmes alimentaires communautaires.

Dates : Les 9 février, 9 mars, 13 avril et 11 mai 2010

Les aliments dans nos écoles : Ce domaine thématique portera sur les questions liées aux programmes officiels qui procurent des aliments aux enfants, à la disponibilité générale des aliments dans les écoles et aux aliments prévus au curriculum.

Heure : De 19 h à 21 h

Dates : Les 16 février, 30 mars et 18 mai 2010

La production des aliments du ménage : Ce domaine thématique explorera les enjeux qui attendent les personnes qui cultivent des aliments pour leurs foyers - y compris les jardins ménagers, les jardins communautaires, les arrêtés municipaux relatifs au bétail et les compétences nécessaires pour cultiver et utiliser les aliments.

Heure : De 19 h à 21 h

Dates : Les 23 février, 23 mars et 27 avril 2010

La production des aliments du marché : Ce domaine thématique se penchera sur les questions auxquelles font face les personnes qui cultivent des aliments pour la vente à autrui.

*                                                                     Dans chacun des domaines thématiques, chaque discussion s'inspirera des conversations survenues auparavant. Lorsque vous vous inscrivez à un domaine thématique, veuillez vous assurer de pouvoir vous engager à participer à toutes les conversations sur ce sujet.

*                                                                     Nous accueillons les conférenciers tant francophones qu'anglophones intéressés à participer à ces conversations. Chaque domaine thématique sera animé par un facilitateur anglophone et un facilitateur francophone.  

*                                                                     Les emplacements seront accessibles aux fauteuils roulants.

*                                                                     Des services de garde seront disponibles durant chacune des discussions, sous réserve d'un préavis.

*                                                                     Des billets d'OC Transpo seront à votre disposition pour vous permettre de circuler à destination et en provenance du lieu des assemblées.
