Hi Folks,
 
So maybe I'm the only citizen in Ottawa that didn't hear about this but just in case a few others missed the notice ...
 
The city is holding a Financial Sustainability Summit on Tuesday June 22nd at which they will be discussing the answers to questions submitted by the public that had to be in today. They will not answer questions that they get on Tuesday.
You are invited to submit your questions online concerning future budgets, financial decisions, and the long range financial plan by Tuesday, June 15, 2010.
 
Interesting piece of info - they have provided the 2006 Long Range Financial Plan and the 2010 Budget as background material. This means that the uploading of social programs is not covered other than as a problem in the LRFP.
 
If we want them to discuss reinvesting the upload dollars, there have to be questions about it. If you get this in time, please send them a question about uploading, reinvesting in social infrastructure and the triple bottom line which balances social, financial and environmental investments through the budget.
 
Also come out to the summit on Tuesday night - my apologies to the two organizations whose AGMs I was scheduled to attend that night - I won't be making it.

Over the coming year, the City of Ottawa’s Audit, Budget and Finance Committee and City staff will be preparing the 2011 Budget and revising the Long Range Financial Plan. Key to both will be involving the public early in the preparation of these documents. 
The City will be hosting a Financial Sustainability Summit on June 22 at Ottawa City Hall to gather your input.

You are invited to submit your questions online concerning future budgets, financial decisions, and the long range financial plan by Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Once the questions are submitted, the question will be directed to the appropriate staff person for a response. Questions and answers will be posted online as soon as the answer is received. 
Attend the Summit
A bilingual moderator will lead discussions which will focus on the questions and the answers received prior to the summit date. No new items will be raised at the summit. This will assist the Audit, Budget and Finance Committee in establishing viable solutions and ideas for the long-term financial sustainability of the City.
