National Housing Day November 22nd - 3 Activities in Ottawa

 

Friday, Nov. 19th all day -   Alliance to End Homelessness annual
Community Forum on Homelessness in honour of National Housing Day,
Linking Research and Knowledge with Action and Policy (registration is
now closed as the space limits us to 200 people but presentations will
be available the following week at www.endnomelessnessottawa.ca

Sunday, Nov. 21st, 5 :00 pm -   The Mayor's Proclamation for National
Housing Day will be presented during an Alliance to End Homelessness and
Multifaith Housing Initiative event at Ottawa City Hall: open to all is
a 5:00 pm interfaith prayer service and for a ticket holders-only (sold
out) fundraising buffet supper  in Jean Piggott hall from 6:30 to 8:30
pm.   

 

Monday, Nov. 22nd 1:00 pm -   Put a Roof on Poverty (see below)

United Church congregations, their allies and friends of the homeless,
are organising an event to Put a Roof on Poverty. This event is one of a
number in Ottawa to focus on the pressing need for affordable and
supported housing in the City.

 

The event, which builds on lessons from the Inner City Health Project
and insights by Dr. Jeff Turnbull, is being held on Monday, November
22nd, at 1:00 p.m.

 

The location is the Lisgar Street entrance to City Hall.

 

We count on the presence of many from all parts of the City, to send a
message to Mayor-elect Jim Watson to support affordable housing.

 

We need this to be top goal for the City over the next four years.

 

Organisers: Rev. Ellie Barrington (Trinity United Church), members of
the Church and Society group of the United Church and others.
