CISED Social Enterprise Breakfasts
The number of organizations looking to start up social enterprises in Ottawa
is growing, as are the number of opportunities to co-produce, co-market, and
increase the visibility of the sector as a whole. CISED
<http://www.cised.ca> Social Enterprise Breakfasts are monthly events aimed
at building this network of social enterprises in Ottawa, and sharing
innovative techniques to help social enterprises succeed.
Crowdfunding
This month Paul Dombowsky from Ideavibes <http://www.ideavibes.com/> and
FundChange <http://www.fundchange.com/> will be speaking about how you can
crowdfund your social enterprise. He will talk about the five big
crowdfunding sites, present best practices, detail how you should present
your business idea, and share success stories.
The Ottawa Community Loan Fund <http://www.oclf.org/> will also be
presenting information about their new Pathways to Sustainability Fund.
This fund will be providing four small grants to organizations looking to
start up or expand their social enterprise. Organizations will need to show
matching funds and will be encouraged to consider crowdfunding a portion of
their matching dollars.
The breakfast will close with a short discussion where organizations can
share ideas on how they might use crowdfunding as a tool, and increase the
overall visibility of crowdfunded social enterprise projects.
Paul Dombowsky - Founder and CEO of Ideavibes
Paul has more than 10 years of marketing experience and a wealth of
knowledge about crowdfunding and crowdsourcing. He recently launched
Canada's first crowdfunding destination site for charities,
www.fundchange.com <http://www.fundchange.com/> , which is a project of his
start-up Ideavibes <http://www.ideavibes.com/> .
