Hi folks,

There's a conference in Toronto on what most of us call the Guaranteed Annual Income (GAI) on May 3rd to 5th which may be of interest to you.

The registration fee for seniors, students and low income folks is $40 before April 15th; $90 for non-profits and $150 for government, university and corporate folks. There doesn't seem to be a category for individuals who are not in the first group so I guess they would pay the non-profit rate - I am checking into that. Registration is through Canada Without Poverty and you can call Kizzy at 613-789-0096 if you have questions.

In addition to the speakers listed below, there are some very good workshops going on. There's a link to the full program below.

Linda.

The 11th North American Basic Income Guarantee Congress will take place May 3-5, 2012 at the University of Toronto, on the theme of:

Putting Equality Back on the Agenda: Basic Income and Other Approaches to Economic Security for All.

While Canada, the United States, and many other OECD countries have grown increasingly unequal in recent years, equality has not been on the political agenda. Yet evidence shows that income inequality is accompanied by a range of significant negative consequences. Putting Equality Back on the Agenda will examine this growing trend of inequality and consider the option of a basic income to reduce economic disparity.
