Administrative Assistant Scotiabank AIDS Walk For Life Ottawa
Eligibility requirements: Position is offered under the terms and
conditions of the Summer Canada Jobs program (see below for firm criteria).
Salary: $11.50 hourly for 36 hours per week plus 4% vacation pay.
Anticipated start date and end-date: June 25 to August 31, 2012.
Summary Job Description: Provide administrative, technical and logistics
support for the annual Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life Ottawa fundraising
event.
Work Tasks and Responsibilities: Liaise and communicate with multiple
not-for-profit partner organizations with HIV/AIDS programming, assist in
all event promotion (including organizing the
pre-event community fair). Provide administrative support including, but not
limited to: telephone reception, filing, correspondence, data input, record
keeping, etc. Maintain event website and record registrations, teams and
monitor pledges. Participate in all committee meetings; provide updates and
reports on activities.
Essential Skills: Mature, sincere and professional promotion of the event
at all times, the ability to work independently as well as among diverse
groups.
Other Qualifications: Sound information management and problem-solving
skills, superior interpersonal skills among diverse groups, experience
recruiting and working with volunteers, positive experience
working/volunteering among Ottawas GBLT communities, knowledge of issues
related to HIV/AIDS an asset.
Computer Skills: Advanced social media experience (in a volunteer/work
capacity an asset),
database applications, MS Office, professional e-mail experience.
Education: Minimum senior secondary, some post-secondary preferred.
Work/Volunteer Experience: 1-2 years
Languages: Speak, read, and write English at an advanced level;
bilingualism (French) preferred.

This position is being offered by Service Canadas Canada Summer Jobs
initiative. To be eligible for this position you must meet the following
criteria: Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusively) at the time of
intake and selection; Have been registered as a full time student in the
previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full time basis
in the next academic year; Be a student in a secondary, post-secondary,
vocational or technical program but not attending full time classes during
the summer work placement; Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or
person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration
and Refugee Protection Act; Be legally entitled to work according to
relevant provincial legislation and regulations, and not hold another
full-time (30 or more hours) summer job.
