Happy National Housing Day 2012, Canada! November 22 is recognized by the
federal government, and in communities across Canada, as a day to mark the
importance of affordable housing in the health and lives of individual
Canadians and in the population and economic health of the entire country.

National Housing Day traces its roots to November 22, 1998, when 14 Mayors
of Canada's biggest cities adopted the Disaster Declaration from the Toronto
Disaster Relief Committee and called on federal, provincial and territorial
governments to take action to provide emergency relief for people who are
homeless, and to work together to create a national housing plan... more
