Hydro Ottawa has teamed up with United Way Ottawa again this year to manage and support an innovative community investment fund called Hydro Ottawa's Brighter Tomorrows Fund. This fund enables frontline charities that serve people who are homeless, or at risk of being homeless, to invest in energy-efficient technologies or products. Specifically, the fund supports small-scale capital projects that improve the energy efficiency of an organization's facilities, helping to reduce energy costs and creating savings that organizations can use for their programs. Hydro Ottawa matches the funds raised by its employees from its annual United Way workplace campaign to provide the investment dollars available under this Fund.

The Call for Proposals for funding under this program was launched today and proposal submissions are due by May 3, 2013. A committee with representatives from Hydro Ottawa, United Way and the local community will evaluate the proposals and make the funding decisions. Cette année encore, Hydro Ottawa a fait équipe avec Centraide Ottawa pour gérer et appuyer un fonds d’investissement communautaire novateur, appelé Fonds pour un avenir brillant d’Hydro Ottawa. Ce fonds permet aux organismes de bienfaisance de première ligne qui s'occupent des personnes sans abri, ou qui risquent de le devenir d’investir dans des technologies ou des produits éconergétiques. Plus précisément, ce fonds appuie les petits projets d’investissements éconergétiques qui réduisent les dépenses en énergie des sites des organismes, et leur permet de réinvestir les économies ainsi faites dans leurs programmes. Hydro Ottawa alimente ce fonds en doublant la somme collectée par ses employés lors de la campagne annuelle de Centraide en milieu de travail.

L'appel de propositions pour bénéficier de ce programme a été lancé aujourd'hui, et les demandes doivent être présentées d’ici le 3 mai 2013. Un comité composé de représentants d'Hydro Ottawa, de Centraide Ottawa et de membres de la communauté locale évaluera les propositions et prendra les décisions en matière de financement.
