There's a great new organization in town that has brought together many wellness and peer support programs in the city:

The Ottawa Peer Recovery Centre (OPRC) is a non-profit mental health organization founded on the belief that recovery is possible. We are dedicated to providing recovery education and peer support by and for people with mental health issues, those affected by trauma or life stress, family members and caregivers. Our focus is on recovery learning through structured programs and supports that help people in achieving and maintaining their own wellness. Based on the "wellness and recovery" and "peer support" models.

The Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP®) is a free 10-week recovery education program that fosters hope and supports individuals with mental health issues in building their own wellness plans.

The Family Wellness Recovery Action Plan (Family WRAP) is an 8-week program for family member/caregivers of people with mental health issues. Participants explore self-care strategies and ways to support a struggling loved one without losing themselves.
The Trauma Support Group is Ottawa's only peer support group for adults who have experienced trauma, including childhood abuse and neglect. For more information, visit www.traumasupport.webs.com<http://traumasupport.webs.com/apps/blog>.

Mindfulness Skills for Well-Being is an 8 week workshop designed for persons who wish to improve their well-being. It is useful for those emerging from periods of depression, experiencing anxiety, chronic illness, work stress, etc. The practice of mindfulness is the practice of skillful living, informing our choices, our way of being with ourselves and others. The Mindfulness Practice Group is an ongoing practice group that meets to support and encourage one another in cultivating a mindful way of life.
Mindful Mornings are offered occasionally throughout the year to support and encourage the practice of mindful well-being.

Pathways to Recovery is a 12-week strengths-based workshop designed for adults with mental health issues who want to focus on developing their life goals and dreams.

The Walking Group is an informal group that meets weekly to walk together and connect with others who wish to have a little company with their physical activity. For more details check the Events page<http://www.ottawapeerrecovery.com/events>.

We also offer individual peer support, resource-sharing and one-on-one WRAP.
