Subject: Deadline for Applications: Masters of Philanthropy and Non-profit
Leadership, Carleton University, Ottawa

Greetings & Happy New Year!

There are still opportunities to apply for the new Program at Carleton
University. Please send this information email widely to all interested
parties. Reaching out locally and across the country will draw many
different experiences and innovative ideas that will benefit all who
participate! Thank you for your consideration.

-------------------------------------

Be part of the first cohort of this exciting new program.. Master of
Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership at Carleton University, Ottawa

The deadline for the second round of Admissions is fast approaching! If you
want to be considered for the new MPNL/DPNL program then you need to have
your application and all required documents into our office by March 1st,
2013. The program begins with an intensive two-week Summer Institute from
August 12th to 23rd 2013 at Carleton University.

The program, offered through the <http://www5.carleton.ca/sppa/> School of
Public Policy and Administration, can be taken in a flexible format
involving intensive summer institutes at Carleton and interactive online
learning. A shorter Graduate Diploma enables working professionals to
upgrade their knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of the complex and
rapidly changing world of philanthropy and leadership in this sector.

It also prepares graduates to be innovators and leaders in charities,
nonprofits, advocacy organizations, social enterprises, philanthropic
foundations, development offices, and in the governments, financial
institutions and businesses that interact with them. It is designed for
experienced professionals studying part-time and full-time students who
aspire to be change-makers in this field.

The National Capital Region is the natural place for Canada's "first"
Master's of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership. Ottawa is home to a wide
range of national and international charities, associations and foundations
and has a vibrant network of community-based organizations, as well as
access to federal government departments, library and archives. There is no
better place to spend a summer than on Carleton's green campus, bordered by
the Rideau Canal and the Rideau River - minutes from downtown, an
international airport and recreational opportunities in the Gatineau Hills.

Applicants must normally have an undergraduate or post-graduate degree (or
equivalent) with an average of B+ or higher. The level of academic
performance and potential as revealed through the degree is more important
than the discipline. Indeed, students enter the program from a wide variety
of backgrounds in the social sciences, humanities, and sciences.

The School also considers mid-career applicants who do not satisfy this
degree requirement, but who have demonstrated professional excellence over
at least five years. Such applicants may use their high achievement in
several designated university courses as evidence of their academic
potential or may site their work experience in the nonprofit/philanthropic
sector. The university courses and professional experience are determined
on an individual basis in consultation with the program supervisor. Contact
the School for details.

Details about how to apply can be found on the MPNL Website at
