Description

Le Réseau de recherche sur l’itinérance canadienne (RRIC), avec la collaboration du Secrétariat des partenariats de lutte contre l’itinérance (SPLI), a élaboré un cadre pour cerner les pratiques prometteuses et les mettre en commun, en vue d’aider les collectivités à trouver des solutions efficaces pour la prévention et la réduction de l’itinérance. Ce webinaire présentera un aperçu du cadre, ainsi que les points saillants de deux études de cas sur des pratiques prometteuses. La Victoria Cool Aid Society présentera son approche globale visant à fournir des logements et des services de soutien axés sur des besoins précis. Le Boys and Girls Club de Calgary présentera un programme novateur donnant la priorité au logement pour les jeunes.

Stephen Gaetz, directeur du Réseau de recherche sur l’itinérance canadienne (RRIC) et doyen-associé de l’Université York, se consacre à la recherche et à la mobilisation des connaissances, dans le but de rendre la recherche plus pertinente aux fins de l’élaboration de politiques et de programmes. Dans le cadre de ses travaux, il s’intéresse à l’itinérance, à la culture des jeunes et au développement communautaire. Ses recherches sur l’itinérance visent principalement les stratégies économiques, la vulnérabilité nutritionnelle, l’éducation et les enjeux juridiques et légaux, ainsi que les solutions pour contrer l’itinérance selon une perspective nationale et internationale.

Kathy Stinson exerce son leadership dans les secteurs public et à but non lucratif depuis 1989. Elle est directrice exécutive de la Victoria Cool Aid Society depuis 2005 et cherche constamment à parfaire ses connaissances. Elle est comptable en management accréditée de profession, est diplômée en gestion de projets et étudie présentement en vue d’obtenir un diplôme en économie foncière urbaine. En 2012, Centraide lui a décerné le Prix de la collaboration et du partenariat dans la région du Grand Victoria. Kathy siège au conseil d’administration de la BC Non Profit Housing Association depuis 2009. En 2013, la Victoria Cool Aid Society a reçu le Prix de leadership de la Victoria Foundation Community.

Katie Davies a joint les rangs des Boys and Girls Clubs de Calgary en 2002 et est la directrice-fondatrice de la Youth Housing and Shelter Division. Elle s’est engagée à aider les jeunes de la rue et sans abri à se sortir de l'itinérance. Elle a notamment participé au réaménagement du refuge pour les jeunes Avenue 15, afin qu'il puisse offrir aux jeunes une gamme de mesures de soutien, ainsi qu’à l’élaboration du projet Infinity, un projet donnant la priorité au logement d’abord visant à aider les jeunes à obtenir et à conserver un logement permanent dans la communauté.

Description

The Canadian Homelessness Research Network (CHRN), supported by the Homelessness Partnering Secretariat, has developed a framework to identify and share promising practices to support communities in the development of effective solutions to preventing and reducing homelessness. This webinar will provide an overview of the framework, as well as highlights from two promising practice case studies. The Victoria Cool Aid Society will present their holistic approach to providing housing and support services geared for specific needs. The Boys and Girls Club of Calgary will present an innovative housing-first program for youth.

Stephen Gaetz, Director of the Canadian Homelessness Research Network (CHRN) and Associate Dean at York University, is committed to research and knowledge mobilisation that centres on making research relevant to policy and program development. His research interests include homelessness, youth culture and community development.  His research on homelessness has focused on their economic strategies, nutritional vulnerability, education and legal and justice issues, as well as solutions to homelessness from both a Canadian and international perspective.  

Kathy Stinson has been providing leadership in the not-for-profit and public sectors since 1989 and has been the Executive Director of Victoria Cool Aid Society since 2005. A lifelong learner, Kathy is a Certified Management Accountant by profession, has earned a graduate certificate in project management and is presently pursuing a diploma in Urban Land Economics. The 2012 recipient of the United Way of Greater Victoria award for Collaboration and Partnership, Kathy has served on the board of the BC Non Profit Housing Association since 2009. In 2013 Cool Aid received the Victoria Foundation Community Leadership Award.

Katie Davies joined the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary in 2002, and is the founding managing director of the Youth Housing and Shelter division. She is committed to assisting street-involved and homeless youth to end their experience of homelessness. Highlights of her work include the re-design of the Avenue 15 Youth Shelter to incorporate a range of supportive shelter options and the development of the Infinity Project, an award-winning Housing First project that supports youth to obtain and keep permanent homes in the community.
